The Disney Magic

The Trailblazer

The Wonder's sister ship. The Magic is the ship that started it all. Though the oldest, she doesn't let it slow her down; she by-far visits the most ports than any other ship in the Disney fleet.

My Review

The Disney Magic holds a certain nostalgia with it, noticeable from the moment you step on board. Though it's been re-imagined several times, and even the atrium being redone, there's still a presence of history.

I've been on the Magic the most out of the other ships, so I've taken a liking to it. Over the years, I've experienced Edge, Vibe, and the 1820 Society on this ship alone. Though the club spaces are much smaller on the Magic and her sister ship the Wonder, they still hold charm. If you want more activities and opportunities available, though, the newer ships are the way to go for youth clubs. On the other hand, the 1820 Society doesn't have any assigned club space, so the experience is roughly similar on all 4 ships.

Some of my favorite dining opportunities are on this ship. Lumiere's holds a special place in my heart, because of my half-French heritage, so I love indulging in high class French cuisine here (even if that means I have to stomach the thought of my father eating escargot at the table with my fear of snails). Even the counter service selections on top aren't half bad; I was pleasantly surprised to see good quality shawarma being served on a European cruise of mine a couple years ago.

Speaking of Europe, the Magic is the only ship that sails in this region. These cruises feel pretty different from the ones hailing in the Western Hemisphere. Not only is weather the different, but the people as well. You'll notice a lot less Americans on these sailings, but instead a pleasant mix of diversity from all over the world. This can enhance the experience the younger ones have in the youth clubs, since they have the opportunity to make friends from places they didn't even know existed, and really broaden their horizons.

Another unique aspect of the Magic is it is the only ship that hosts the Marvel Day at Sea event. As a fan of Marvel myself, I cannot wait to experience this one day (I have not had the opportunity to yet)!

Overall, the Magic is a magnificent ship with so much to offer. Sailing to more ports than all the rest of the ships combined, you'll never have the same experience twice while on this beauty. For a varied yet intimate experience, I would recommend the Magic.
