The Disney Dream

The Bahamas Fanatic

The Fantasy's sister ship. This was the first ship the be released for over a decade after Disney Cruise Line's first two ships. The Dream is distinct because it only sails to 2 ports of call in the whole world. If you plan on sailing on the Dream, well, you better like Castaway Cay and Nassau.

My Review

The Disney Dream is a peculiar ship. I myself have only been on it once, primarily because I tend to go on cruises that are longer in length, and the Dream only sails itineraries that are up to 5 nights.

Although, the one cruise I was actually on, was quite the experience. I was lucky enough to be a "plus one" on the inaugural sailing of the Dream from January 23rd to the 26th, 2011 (which was right before the first public sailing the Dream did). On this cruise, I was able to get a first look at the all-new layout that the Dream, and later on it's sister ship the Fantasy, possessed.

I was (and still am) in love with certain aspects of the ship. The atrium is my favorite out of all the Disney ships, with the gorgeously extravagant Art Deco chandelier and the lovely carpet that compliments it very nicely. Skyline, the bar and lounge, has always captured my interest, as it draws out my love to travel the world. As a lover of theatre and all things French, the Broadway-caliber Beauty and the Beast performance in the Walt Disney Theatre (unique to the Dream) can't be recommended enough.

At this time, I was 14, so I had just grown out of being apart of the tween youth club. I distinctly remember being extremely jealous of the all new Edge, and not being able to be apart of it! Situated inside one of the funnels (like Vibe on the Magic and Wonder), it looked so much trendier than the Edge on the first two Disney ships, in my opinion. However, I wasn't aware what I was in for. Once I saw the huge space that Vibe inhabited, I couldn't wait to be with the teens. With their own private deck area, smoothie bar, movie theatre, and endless amounts of video games; I had stars in my eyes. If you have older kids and have the option to, I would definitely recommend sailing one one of the newer ships, Dream or Fantasy, for the expansive and innovative youth clubs.
